Dr Siddika Mathani retired from the Public Service January 20, 2023. Several Canadian agriculture organizations, including the National Farmers Union, had been calling for Dr. Mighani to step down after concerns about the relationship between the CFIA and CropLife Canada suggesting inappropriate collaboration between a public regulator and a private corporation whose products it regulates.
