Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture Farm Investment Fund (provincial) and the Canada-Nova Scotia Environmental Farm Stewardship Program (federal/provincial - Environmental Farm Plan required) are available to assist existing producers and new entrants to the industry in the development of specific aspects of their farm operation.

New Brunswick Agriculture and Aquaculture’s Organic Programs

New Brunswick Agriculture and Aquaculture’s Organic Development Initiative can assist certified organic producers and operators who are involved in value-added activities and facilitate the transition of conventional producers to organic production. New entrants to organic agriculture can also benefit from this initiative.

PEI programs

PEI Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture – Organic programs

PEI Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture - Organic Certification Assistance Program defrays costs associated with certification by reimbursing current and transitional growers, processors and handlers for 75% of the cost of certification, up to a maximum of $500 per year.

PEI Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture - Organic Industry Development Program 2007-2011  is designed to: accelerate the adoption of certified organic production and processing technology; encourage strategic growth and market development; and implement competitive weed and pest management practices.
Assistance may be up to 50% of the costs associated with the execution of the project. Training will be funded at 75%. The maximum allowable assistance per project is $100,000. Multi-year projects are eligible.
