Classified AdsSign Up for Your CSA (food box) share!
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a system in which
individuals/families sign up for a share in a local farm at the
beginning of the season, and receive a regular box of food that may
come weekly or bi-weekly. What fills these boxes depends on the season
and the type of CSA offered. Though many CSAs in the Maritimes are
based with vegetables and fruit, there are also producers offering
meat, fish, bread and full meal CSAs. To find a local CSA program,
visit the ACORN directory and click "CSA" and your province. Now is the time to sign-up and savour the best seasonal food possible.

market gardener in the Keswick Ridge, NB area seeks a landsharing
arrangement at an organic farm or, if otherwise, place with good
soil. An ideal site would be one that I could use for free,
or for a token payment, in exchange for improving the value of the soil
through my organic growing practices and safeguarding or maintaining

expect to be able to garden well. Ready access to water for both drip

Land for Sale/Share: I
am asking for your help in protecting a beautiful piece of forest and
participating in a community-based land-trust. Presently, there is a
380 ac. piece of forested land for sale next to my farm, The Oasis,
that I have first right of refusal to purchase. The deadline to make
this purchase is Jun 15/12. There is already a competing offer from a
former owner, who is planning to create a Christmas tree farm from this
natural woodland. At this point, what is needed is immediate action in
purchasing this parcel of land. We are presently asking community
members for financial investments in order to obtain the requisite
amount of the purchase price of the land. For more info, contact Michel
Palmer (902) 825-3954.

Land Share We are
actively looking for interested parties to partner on our farm near
Brooklyn, NS (Windsor being the closest town); ideally a young couple
who want to farm/have agricultural experience but can't yet afford
land. Having Canadian partners who live here (forty acres, so there's
plenty of room) through the winter would be great, as we will continue
to return to Texas in the winter. For more details, please contact John
at johnlesliestanley@gmail.com
Land Share We are
not farmers, but we are big supporters of organic farming. We own land
in PEI (are living in Toronto) and are looking for a farmer to plant
organic wheat or rye. We will not be charging rent. Please contact
Bernadette at bernadettestantonmeijer@msn.com.
Land Share: We are looking to share our land in
central PEI with new farmers looking to practice non-conventional
farming. We are hoping to provide space for several new farmers with
the idea of sharing knowledge, effort and equipment. Please email ken@hoperiver.ca for more information.
Permaculture Training:
Permaculture Design Course/ Internships at Motheroak Permaculture, in
Belmont, Hants County, NS. This course is an immersion in permaculture
study and hands on practice, running this year from mid-May to
mid-September. Along with the PDC curriculum, we spend alot of time on
design principles and how we can manifest them in the real world around
us. We also run a market garden and keep a few livestock, so there'll
be plenty of experience with those, too. The fee is $300 per month all
inclusive(sliding scale possible). There are only a few slots left open
(as of March 2012), so please consider applying soon. Write to alexdenicola@hotmail.com, & visit our website at www.novascotiapermaculture.net
Seeking Input: Groundswell, a project of the Ecology Action Centre,
is finding out how groundwater levels are changing in communities
across the province, and it’s free! Water level information can help
everyone know more about the drinking and irrigation water, establish
better management during low water periods, and plan for the future
when water levels might be under more strain from climate change,
industrial and exploration activities. The basis of the project is to
find water wells that could be used for long term monitoring. Your well
could provide water level information for your whole community! If you
know of, or have a unused well (no pumping) that has been drilled
within the past 30 years please contact Jennifer at 902-442-5046/groundwater@ecologyaction.ca, and visit the project website here.
Interested in collective buying power?
Check out our new website (just launched) for helping to organize with
other farmers to receive the benefits of group buying here. It's easy
and we're hoping to expand soon. Questions? Contact info@farmersbundles.com.
Interested in Solar Technology for Your Farm?
The Re-electrification of Rural Nova Scotia. Do you want to use the
most under utilized natural resource in Canada? The power of sunshine,
it free and should not run out in our life time. With the advances in
Solar technology the pricing of Made in Canada Solar panels is within
reach of all. Nova Scotia on average gets more solar isolation than
Germany and Ontario. We have discounted our systems by 20% as there are
no rebates available to Nova Scotians for PV systems. Solar hot water
systems can cut your electrically heated water bill by up to 30%. Yes
there is still one rebate on the systems. Lets see if we can show you
how to cut your operating costs using the sun. Contact Stephen Cahill
