ACORN is headed to the
Valley and invites
all fruit producers to join!
August 6-7th, 2012
Please join us on a two-day organic fruit tour through the
Annapolis Valley this August 6-7th. The
Valley is home to a number of successful organic fruit operations and
we will be visiting at least five of them to see a range of organic
management techniques in practice. The focus will be on
apples, high bush blueberries and grapes. We are also planning for a
stop at the Kentville Research Centre to learn about the latest in
organic fruit research.
If
you’re producing fruit or thinking of expanding into this market,
you don’t want to miss this opportunity to learn from experienced
growers! Host farms will be sharing lessons learned along the way,
including those in pest and disease control, fertility management, and
varietal selection. There will also be time reserved to focus some
discussion on other topics such as grading, storage, and marketing.
Spots are limited on this
tour, so don’t delay your registration! We’re predicting a mix of
long-time organic, transitional, and new fruit producers, so the
networking potential should be great in addition to the excellent
training opportunity! Please note that this tour is geared to NB
growers, but that producers outside of NB are welcome (space
permitting).

Registration is $75 ($50 for members) and includes transportation from
Sackville, New Brunswick and a
3-course organic meal at our hotel, the Old Orchard Inn, on August 6th.
Group rates have been arranged at the Old Orchard Inn ($99+HST
for
double occupancy). Upon registration, we will provide you with the
information to make your booking.
