Participants will meet at the AAFC parking lot at 1200 Brackley Point Road, Harrington, PEI. Presentations will be held at AAFC Certified Organic Fields, The PEI Farm Centre, and various PEI organic farms. Exact details and directions will be provided to registrants.
Everyone is warmly welcomed to attend this event! Morning research presentations (8:45 am - 12:00 pm) will include:
— Participatory Plant Breeding for Wheat & Oats with Katherine Stanley, Organic Production Specialist and PPB Research Associate, from the University of Manitoba and Aaron Mills, PhD, Research Scientist, AAFC.
— Organic Potato Varietal Evaluations with David Main, Field Biologist, AAFC.
— Organic Rotation Study: The Impact of Crop Rotation on Weed Suppression, Soil Health & Crop Yield with Andrew MacKenzie-Gopsill, PhD, Research scientist, AAFC.
— Legacy Farm Tour & Overview of Research Projects for Low-input Systems: Chamomile, Soil Enzymes, and Red Bell Peppers with Phil Ferraro, Legacy Garden Manager.
Lunch will be served at the Farm Centre at 12:00 pm. Please register in advance, choosing the "registration with lunch" ($15) or "registration with no lunch" (free) option. Please note that space is limited for afternoon farm tours (1:00 pm - 6:00 pm) and attendance will be capped at 25 people. Please indiate on your registration form whether you will be attending the AM (research) session, PM (farm tour) session, or the full day. Ride sharing will be offered from the Farm Centre for the afternoon.
