Rain, Rain, Go Away

The weather is certainly challenging the bounty of the harvest season, with fields too wet to even walk on. Record rainfall is being reported across the region, and it's not going to be letting up with the active hurricane season.

So what should we do?

Please support your local farmers. Buy what they have and ensure their on-going income generation. This may mean buying produce that you normally wouldn't, trying something new, or accepting produce that may be less than perfect. Buying local connects you with your environment, and for now, that means rain!

Going Organic?

Thanks to funding support and advisory services from NRC-IRAP, ACORN has hired a Transition Specialist to help anyone who is thinking about going organic, or already in transition.

This is a free service in Atlantic Canada and we'd love you to use it.

If you've got a question, contact our knowledgeable resource person, Rupert Jannasch at 902-633-2358
or E-mail: rjannasch [insert @] ns.sympatico.ca

Think we're going a great job? Why not join ACORN? Everyone is welcome. We also welcome visitors to sign up for our free monthly e-newsletter.

Happy growing!
